WHM vs Master vs Alpha Reseller Hosting

The three tiers differ in one thing: what kind of accounts you are allowed to create. Everything else — the servers, the storage, the support — is the same platform. Once you see it that way the choice is straightforward.

The one-line version

  • WHM Reseller — you create cPanel accounts for end customers.
  • Master Reseller — you create cPanel accounts *and* WHM reseller accounts for other resellers.
  • Alpha Reseller — you create all of the above *and* Master Reseller accounts.

Each tier can do everything the tier below it can, plus one more level.

WHM Reseller

You get a WHM panel, a block of disk and bandwidth, and the ability to carve it into individual cPanel accounts. Each customer gets their own login, their own files, their own databases, isolated from every other customer.

This is the right tier for you if: you build websites for clients and want to host them yourself, you run an agency that manages sites on retainer, or you are starting a hosting brand selling directly to end users.

It is not enough if: you want other people to resell under you.

Most people asking about reseller hosting want this tier and only this tier. Start here unless you have a concrete reason not to.

Master Reseller

Everything above, plus the ability to create WHM reseller accounts. Those sub-resellers get their own WHM panel and carve up their own allocation to sell to their own customers.

You become a wholesaler. Your revenue comes from resellers who each bring their own customers, rather than from managing every end user yourself.

The right tier if: you have people who want to sell hosting under your brand — regional partners, freelancers you supply, an agency network. Or you are an agency with departments or franchisees that each need their own panel.

Be honest with yourself here. Buying Master Reseller because it sounds bigger, then never creating a sub-reseller, means paying for a capability you do not use. The upgrade path exists precisely so you do not have to guess.

Alpha Reseller

Everything above, plus the ability to create Master Reseller accounts. Three levels beneath you: masters, who create resellers, who create end users.

The right tier if: you are operating as a distributor rather than a hosting company — supplying regional master partners who each build their own reseller networks. This is a real business model, and it is a genuinely small number of people.

If you cannot immediately name who your Master Resellers would be, you do not need this tier yet.

What all three include

  • WHM with full package management, account creation, suspension and quotas
  • White-label branding — your logo in cPanel, your private nameservers, our name nowhere
  • NVMe SSD storage and LiteSpeed on the same infrastructure every plan runs on
  • Free AutoSSL on every account you create
  • Imunify360 and Cloudflare protection
  • JetBackup daily off-site backups on eligible tiers
  • 24/7 WhatsApp support for you as the account holder

How to choose

Ask one question: who creates accounts beneath you?

  • Only you, for end customers → WHM Reseller
  • Other resellers, who serve their own customers → Master Reseller
  • Other resellers' resellers → Alpha Reseller

Upgrading later

You can move up a tier without migrating anything. Your existing accounts, packages, nameservers and customers stay exactly as they are; the new capability is added to your panel.

That is the reason to start at the tier you need today rather than the one you might need in two years. Buy the capability when you have someone to use it on.

Not sure which fits? Message us on WhatsApp and describe how you plan to sell. We will tell you the smallest tier that does the job — including when the answer is that you do not need reseller hosting at all and a shared plan would do.
